4. GYM STRIP
Students missing gym strip more than 3 times in one term will lose valuable participation marks. This will also result in a phone call home to create a success-plan with parents.
Athletic Shorts or Sweat pants - no cutoffs, bathing suits, or shorts with zippers or belts.
T-shirts - no buttons, zippers, midriff shirts, or shirts advertising drugs or alcohol
Running shoes – must have non-marking soles. Students wearing dress shoes, skate shoes, boots or sandals in PE class will not be permitted to participate and will receive a No Strip mark.
Socks - must be worn in P.E. class
5. VALUABLES
No valuable of any kind should be left in the gym or change rooms. Students will be asked to remove jewellery during P.E. classes for safety reasons. Instructors are not responsible for lost or stolen jewellery, watches, clothing, etc. Because the changing room doors cannot be locked at all times, students should quickly place valuables in their school lockers before arriving at the gym.
6. EXCUSES
A doctor or parent’s note may excuse a student from P.E. Students with notes may be asked to complete written assignments, service work, or other tasks that the teacher assigns. Within reason, students with minor injuries and illnesses will still be expected to wear gym strip and participate in class. Modification and accommodation for these students will be met where possible. If a student is unexcused and misses P.E. class they must bring a note from home explaining their absence.
7. CODE OF CONDUCT AND STINGER RULES
• Students are expected to move in and out of the gym in a safe, controlled manner • Move directly from the change room to the gym for attendance before and at the end of class • Respect the property and rights of fellow classmates • Be accountable for own actions • Respect your facilities and equipment • Food and drink prohibited at all time in the gymnasium and change rooms • Gymnasium is out of bounds when unsupervised.
